Don’t Carry Your Pain to the Enemy: Choosing God’s Truth When It Hurts

Will it be easy to face the fire? No! Will it be worth it to walk through it with the King instead of the accuser? Always.

Sister, we need to have a real, heart-to-heart talk today. I’m speaking to you as a spiritual big sister who has been in the trenches: the kind where the shadows feel longer than the days and the weight on your chest feels like it might just stay there forever. We all face seasons of intense pain, whether it’s a dream that died, a relationship that crumbled, or a "dark night of the soul" that seems to have no end.

But here is the hard truth: when we are in pain, we are at our most vulnerable. And the enemy? He is a predator. He doesn't just want to see you hurt; he wants to use that hurt to dismantle your very identity. He wants you to take your broken pieces and lay them at his feet so he can tell you they are beyond repair.

Today, we are drawing a line in the sand. We are choosing a "Spiritual Spa" for the soul: an intentional, airy, and grace-filled space where we stop carrying our pain to the one who wants to destroy us and start carrying it to the One who wants to restore us.

Excuse #1: "I need to hide until I’m healed."

We’ve all said it. We feel "messy," so we pull back. We stop opening our faith journals, we stop showing up for our community, and we definitely stop talking to God because we think we need to "get ourselves together" first.

This is a trap.

The enemy loves a closed hand and a closed heart. When you isolate in your pain, you are essentially walking into the enemy’s camp and asking him for his opinion on your situation. And what will he tell you? He’ll whisper that you’re a failure. He’ll tell you that if God really loved you, this wouldn't be happening. He’ll convince you that your resilience is gone for good.

But God? He says, "Come to me, all who are weary." He doesn't ask for the polished version of you. He wants the raw, unedited, tear-stained version. Because you can’t pour new wine into closed hands, and you certainly can't receive His strength if you’re too busy clutching your lies.

Truth vs. Lie: The Battle for Your Mind

To keep your head high in the midst of the challenge, you have to know the roadmap of the battlefield. The enemy speaks the language of "Always" and "Never," but God speaks the language of "Now" and "Eternal."

The Enemy’s Lie (The Poison) God’s Truth (The Medicine) Your Spiritual Truth
"God has abandoned you in this fire." "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted." (Psalm 34:18) Fact: His Presence is not a feeling; it is a Promise.
"This pain defines who you are." "You are My masterpiece, created for good works." (Eph 2:10) Fact: Your identity is rooted in the Creator, not the crisis.
"You are too weak to survive this." "My grace is sufficient; My power is made perfect in weakness." Fact: Weakness is the portal for His strength.
"This situation is a total waste." "I am making all things new." (Rev 21:5) Fact: God is a Master Economist; He wastes nothing.

Fact #1: Pain is a Portal, Not a Pit

In the world's eyes, pain is a pit: a place you fall into and hope to climb out of eventually. But in the Kingdom, pain is a portal. It is a doorway to a deeper level of mindset and spiritual authority.

When you choose to go to God in your pain, you are stewarding your suffering. You are saying, "Lord, this hurts, but I refuse to let the enemy have the final word on it." This is where you find the strength to keep your head high. Dignity isn't the absence of pain; it's the presence of God within the pain.

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." : Psalm 34:18

Spiritual Truth:

Your brokenness is not a sign of God's absence; it is an invitation for His closest proximity.

How to Battle: The 4-Step Surrender

If you’re feeling the weight of the world today, I want you to stop and do this right now. Don't wait until you "feel like it." Inspiration follows action. This is how we conquer fear and reclaim our peace.

1. Name the Lie

Get out your prayer journal or a piece of Marshmallow Cream stationery. Write down the loudest lie the enemy is whispering to you right now. Is it that you're a bad mother? That your business is failing? That you’ll never be happy again? Put it on paper. Bringing it into the light immediately strips the enemy of his power.

2. Search the Scripture

Don't rely on your own logic: it's compromised right now. Go to the Word. Use bible journaling prompts to dig deep. Find a verse that directly contradicts that lie. If the lie is "I am alone," the truth is "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

3. Open Your Hands (Literally)

Sit in a quiet space: your own personal "Spiritual Spa." Place your hands face down on your lap and "drop" the lie. Then, flip your hands over, palms up. This is the posture of receptivity. Tell God, "I am ready for the New Wine. I am ready for Your truth."

4. Write Your "New Identity" Statement

Based on the truth you found, write a new declaration. "Because God is with me, I am a woman of strength and dignity who laughs at the days to come."

Choosing the "North Star" Over the Storm

Sister, the enemy wants to keep your eyes fixed on the waves. He knows that if you look at the storm long enough, you’ll start to believe the storm is bigger than the Boat-Maker. But when you turn to God, you are choosing a North Star.

Going to God in your pain doesn't always mean the pain disappears instantly. Sometimes, the "miracle" is simply the peace that surpasses understanding. It’s the ability to walk into a room with your head held high, not because your life is perfect, but because you know exactly who you belong to.

You are a masterpiece. You are a winner. You are a key part of the Plan.

Don't let the enemy steal your crown just because you’re having a hard day. Take that pain, wrap it in prayer, and watch how God transforms it into a platform for His glory. Your story isn't over; it's just getting to the good part where the Hero steps in.

Christian Journal Prompts for Your Next Study:

  • What is the one thing I am most afraid of right now, and what does God’s Word say about it?
  • How has God used a "closed door" in the past to lead me to a better "New Wine" season?
  • List three ways I can practice "spiritual receptivity" this week.

Stay rooted. Stay expectant. And for heaven's sake, keep your hands open.

With so much love and grace,
