The Root | Her Identity in Christ

The Unlikely Hall of Faith: 16 Women God Qualified for His Glory

Will it be easy to step into your calling? No! Will you feel ready? Never!

But let me tell you a secret, sis: the Enemy loves to whisper that you aren’t enough. He wants you to believe that your past, your "messy" current season, or your lack of a formal degree disqualifies you from being used by the King of Kings.

But here is the hard truth: God isn't looking for your resume; He’s looking for your "Yes."

At Charlet’s Stationery, we believe that your life is a masterpiece in progress. Whether you are using our Crowned in Grace Planner to organize your days or pouring your heart into a Dear God Prayer Book, you are being prepared for a divine purpose.

Today, we’re walking through the "Unlikely Hall of Faith." These sixteen women weren’t the "obvious" choices. They were the broken, the rejected, and the overlooked. And yet, they are the very ones He qualified for His glory.

Fact #1: Your Past is Not a Prison

Many of us feel like our history keeps us from our future. We think God only uses the "clean" ones. Truth: God specializes in taking what the world discards and making it a cornerstone.

1. Eve (The First Mother)
She was the first to fall, the one who saw paradise lost. Yet, God didn’t abandon her. He promised her that through her seed, the Savior would come. He covered her shame and qualified her to be the mother of all living.

Spiritual Truth: Grace always speaks louder than your first mistake.

2. Rahab (The Prostitute)
She had a "reputation." She was an outsider living on the edge of a doomed city. But she had vision. She recognized the power of Israel's God and acted. God didn’t just save her; He put her in the genealogy of Jesus.

Spiritual Truth: Your profession doesn’t define your potential in the Kingdom.

3. Mary Magdalene (The Demoniac)
Seven demons. That was her reality until she met Jesus. She was the definition of "too far gone." And yet, who did Jesus choose to be the first witness of His resurrection? Mary.

Spiritual Truth: The one who is forgiven much, loves much, and leads well.

4. The Samaritan Woman (The Outcast)
Five husbands and a "living-in" situation. She went to the well at noon to avoid the stares. But after one conversation with the Living Water, she became the first evangelist to her entire town.

Spiritual Truth: Jesus meets you in your shame to give you a story.

Fact #2: Your Scarcity is His Opportunity

Sometimes we feel unqualified because we feel "empty." Empty bank accounts, empty wombs, or empty hearts.

Prompt: A woman in her early 30s sitting peacefully in a sunlit room by a large window. She is wearing a soft cream sweater. In her hands, she holds a ceramic mug. On the table next to her is a "Becoming Her" devotional deck and a dusty rose colored Bible. The lighting is soft, natural, and warm. Magazine-style photography.

5. Sarah (Old Age)
She laughed at the promise. She thought her body was a "dead end." But God qualifies the impossible. He turned her laughter of doubt into the laughter of joy when Isaac was born.

Spiritual Truth: God is not limited by your biology or your timeline.

6. Hannah (Barren)
She was overlooked and taunted. Her heart was heavy with "not yet." But in her brokenness, she made a vow of stewardship. God gave her a son, Samuel, and she gave him back to the Lord.

Spiritual Truth: Your deepest ache can become your greatest offering.

7. The Widow of Zarephath (The Poor)
She was down to her last handful of flour. She was preparing to die. But when she prioritized the word of God over her fear of lack, her jars never ran dry.

Spiritual Truth: Stewardship in scarcity triggers the miraculous.

8. The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Sick/Outcast)
Twelve years of "unclean." Twelve years of spending everything on healers who couldn't heal. Her faith was a desperate reach for the hem of His garment, and it was enough.

Spiritual Truth: Your desperation is the bridge to your deliverance.

Fact #3: Your Identity is Found in Him, Not Them

We often disqualify ourselves because we don't feel "seen" or "loved" by those around us. Sis, your North Star is not the opinion of people.

9. Hagar (The Rejected)
Used and discarded by human hands, she fled into the desert. But she discovered that God is El Roi, the God who sees me. He qualified her to mother a nation when she thought she was a nobody.

Spiritual Truth: You are never invisible to the One who created you.

10. Leah (The Unloved)
She lived in the shadow of her "prettier" sister. She was the "unwanted" wife. But God saw her heart and gave her the sons who would form the priesthood and the royal line of Judah.

Spiritual Truth: God chooses the "unloved" to carry the most precious promises.

11. Naomi (The Bitter/Widowed)
She lost everything in a foreign land. She wanted to be called "Mara" (Bitter). But God wasn’t done. Through her daughter-in-law Ruth, God restored her joy and her legacy.

Spiritual Truth: Your "bitter" season is just the setup for a "blessed" return.

12. Ruth (The Outsider/Widow)
A Moabite woman with no status. She could have stayed in the familiar, but she chose the God of Israel. Her loyalty qualified her for a redemption she never saw coming.

Spiritual Truth: Your "Yes" to God changes your family tree forever.

Fact #4: He Uses the Flawed and the Fearful

Even the "greats" had moments of rebellion or anxiety. God doesn't need you to be perfect; He needs you to be positioned.

13. Miriam (The Rebellious)
She was a leader and a prophetess, but she struggled with pride. God disciplined her, yes, but He also restored her. She remains a pillar of the Exodus story.

Spiritual Truth: Discipline is a sign of your daughterhood, not your disqualification.

14. Esther (The Orphan)
A young girl with a secret and no parents. She was thrust into a palace full of danger. But God qualified her "for such a time as this" to save an entire people.

Spiritual Truth: Your upbringing doesn't dictate your destiny; your King does.

15. Martha (The Anxious/Busy)
She was the one worried about the dishes while Jesus was in the room. We often judge Martha, but she was the one who made the boldest confession: "I believe that You are the Christ."

Spiritual Truth: God can handle your anxiety if you bring your heart to His feet.

16. Gomer (The Unfaithful)
Her life was a mess of running away. Yet, her story is the ultimate metaphor for God’s relentless, pursuing love. He bought her back. He qualified her to show the world what grace looks like.

Spiritual Truth: No matter how far you run, His grace is faster.

How to Battle the "Unqualified" Lie

The Enemy wants you to stay small. He wants you to believe you aren't "spiritual" enough to lead that study or "organized" enough to start that business. Here is how you fight back:

  1. Track the Truth: Use your faith journal to write down every time God has come through for you.
  2. Speak the Word: When you feel like Rahab, remember you are a "Heroine of Faith." When you feel like Hagar, remember He is "El Roi."
  3. Affirm Your Identity: Use our Becoming Her Cards to remind yourself that you are "Crowned in Grace."

A flatlay of spiritual affirmation cards and a sage green divider on a marshmallow cream background
Prompt: An elegant flatlay of the "Becoming Her" spiritual affirmation cards spread out on a Marshmallow Cream (#FDFBF7) surface. A Misty Sage (#E2E7DF) ribbon and a Petal Pink (#F4E1E1) pen are placed aesthetically among the cards. The text on the cards is in Deep Plum-Grey (#4A3B3D). Soft, airy photography style, magazine-ready.

Spiritual Truth vs. The Enemy's Lie

The Lie The Spiritual Truth
"I’ve made too many mistakes." "God’s grace is sufficient for your past." (2 Cor 12:9)
"I don't have enough resources." "God will supply all your needs." (Phil 4:19)
"I'm just an ordinary woman." "You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation." (1 Peter 2:9)

Your Prayer Journal Prompts

Grab your Dear God Prayer Book or a beautiful notebook and spend some time with the Father using these christian journal prompts:

  • Which of the 16 women do I resonate with most in this season, and why?
  • What "disqualification" have I been letting the enemy whisper to me?
  • If I truly believed God had already qualified me, what is the first bold step I would take today?
  • Write a letter from God to your current self, using the name "Daughter" or "Masterpiece."

You are a key part of the plan, sis. Don't let the world tell you otherwise. You are called, you are chosen, and you are being qualified by the only One whose opinion matters.

Go and prosper in His grace,

Charlet Billings
