The Root | Her Identity in Christ

30 Dates with God: Cultivating Intimacy with the Source of Everything

Will it be easy? No. Will it be the most life-altering decision you ever make? Absolutely.

Sister, let’s get real for a moment. Are you feeling like you’re running on empty? Like the "vision" He gave you is gathering dust while you hustle for everyone else? You are doing all the "right" things, checking off the to-do list, serving at church, keeping the house together, but your soul feels like a dry garden. You’re parched, and the enemy is right there, whispering that you’re too busy for the very thing that will save you.

Listen to me: The hustle is a trap when it’s not fueled by the Presence.

We talk about God as our Creator and our Judge, but how often do we treat Him like our Most Intimate Companion? He isn't a distant CEO waiting for your quarterly report. He is the Lover of your soul, the Father who knows your name, and the Friend who sticks closer than a brother. If you aren't dating the One who created you, you’re missing out on the rhythm of Grace that makes life actually work.

In this space we call "The Grace-Led Life," we don't just plan for productivity; we plan for Prosperity in the Spirit. And that starts with one thing: Time.

Why It’s Important to Pursue Intimacy

We are in a spiritual war, and your greatest weapon is your intimacy with the King. The enemy wants you distracted, frazzled, and disconnected. Why? Because a woman who is deeply rooted in God is dangerous to the kingdom of darkness!

Fact #1: He is Your Source of Wisdom

You cannot navigate the complexities of motherhood, business, or ministry on your own intellect. James 1:5 tells us that if we lack wisdom, we just have to ask. But asking isn’t a drive-thru prayer; it’s a dialogue. When you "date" God, you’re tapping into the Mind of Christ. You’re getting the blueprint for your life directly from the Architect.

Fact #2: He is Your Ultimate Husband

Whether you are single, married, or "it's complicated," Isaiah 54:5 is your anchor: "For your Maker is your husband, the Lord Almighty is his name." Earthly husbands are a blessing, but they were never meant to carry the weight of your identity. Only the Lord can satisfy the deepest ache in your heart to be seen, known, and fully loved without conditions.

Fact #3: He is the Perfect Father

Maybe your earthly father wasn't present, or maybe he was a hero. Either way, God is the Father who never leaves, never fails, and always provides. Sitting with Him as a daughter allows you to lay down the "strong woman" mask and just be a child who is cherished.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" , 1 John 3:1

Spiritual Truth: Your worth isn't earned in the boardroom or the kitchen; it was settled at the Cross. You are a masterpiece because the Master says so.

Truth vs. Lie

The Lie: "I don't have time to spend an hour in prayer today."
The Truth: You don't have the capacity to skip it. When we give God the first fruits of our time, He multiplies our productivity. Stewardship of time starts with God, not your Google Calendar.

30 Dates with God: Your Intimacy Menu

I’ve put together 30 different ways you can "date" the Lord. Some are quiet, some are active, but all are designed to move you from surface-level religion to deeply rooted relationship.

  1. The Coffee Shop Exchange: Take your Faith Journal to a local café. Buy a latte and spend 30 minutes writing a letter to God about your fears, then listen for His response.
  2. The Nature Hike: Go for a walk where the only sound is the wind. Ask God to show His glory in the details, the veins of a leaf, the color of the sky.
  3. The Midnight Worship Session: When the house is quiet, turn on instrumental worship and simply lie on the floor in His presence. No words, just "soaking."
  4. The Planning Date: Bring your Planner and sit with the Holy Spirit. Ask Him, "Lord, what is YOUR priority for my week?" and write down what He says.
  5. The Sunset Praise: Drive to a high point and watch the sun go down. Read Psalm 19 out loud and tell God why He is magnificent.
  6. The Creative Canvas: Get some paints or colored pencils and do some Bible Journaling. Don't worry about being an artist; just create with Him.
  7. The Prayer Walk: Walk through your neighborhood and pray for every house you pass. Ask God to show you the needs of your neighbors.
  8. The Scripture Soak: Choose one verse (like Zephaniah 3:17) and meditate on it for 20 minutes. Repeat it, chew on it, and let it sink into your marrow.
  9. The Bookstore Browse: Go to a Christian bookstore and ask God to highlight a book that will help you grow in this season.
  10. The Garden Grooming: Spend time weeding or planting. Reflect on how God is the Gardener of your soul, pulling out the "weeds" of bitterness.
  11. The Gourmet Dinner: Cook your favorite meal, set a place at the table for "Jesus," and talk to Him throughout the meal as if He were sitting right there.
  12. The Museum Visit: Go to an art museum and look for the "fingerprints of God" in human creativity.
  13. The Journaling Marathon: Spend an hour writing out the history of God’s faithfulness in your life. List every "win" He gave you.
  14. The Stargazing Session: Lay out a blanket at night. Look at the stars and remember that the One who names them also counts the hairs on your head.
  15. The Affirmation Walk: Take our Affirmation Cards and speak them out loud while you walk, anchoring your identity in Truth.
  16. The Silent Retreat: Spend 4 hours with your phone off. No podcasts, no music, just you and the "still, small voice."
  17. The Testimony Recording: Use your phone to record yourself telling God "thank you" for 10 minutes straight. Play it back when you feel low.
  18. The Bible Study Intensive: Pick a woman in the Bible (like Esther or Ruth) and study her entire story in one sitting.
  19. The Worship Dance: In your living room, put on high-energy praise and literally dance for the Lord. He delights in your joy!
  20. The Intercession Date: Go to a public place (like a mall or park) and sit quietly, asking God to show you who needs prayer, then pray for them silently.
  21. The Letter to My Future Self: Write a letter about what God is teaching you now, to be opened in one year.
  22. The "Yes" Day: Spend the day asking God, "What’s next?" for every small decision and saying "yes" to His prompts.
  23. The Fasting and Feasting: Fast from social media for the day and "feast" on the Word every time you feel the urge to scroll.
  24. The Photography Trek: Go out and take 10 photos of things that remind you of God’s character (e.g., a sturdy rock for His faithfulness).
  25. The Reading Date: Find a cozy spot and read an entire book of the Bible (like Ephesians or Philippians) in one go.
  26. The Blessing Prep: Spend your date making cards or gifts for others, asking God to lead you on who needs encouragement.
  27. The Legacy Reflection: Ask God, "What do I want my spiritual legacy to be?" and write down the "North Star" goals He gives you.
  28. The Morning Watch: Wake up 30 minutes before the sun and watch the world wake up with the Creator.
  29. The Humility Practice: Spend your time in total silence, just kneeling or prostrating yourself, acknowledging His Lordship.
  30. The Coaching Session: Use this time to prepare for a one-on-one coaching session, asking God to reveal the "blocks" in your spiritual growth.

How to Battle: Taking Action

Knowing about "dates with God" isn't the same as going on them. The enemy will throw every distraction your way to keep you from this intimacy. Here is how you fight back:

  • Schedule It Like a Surgery: You wouldn't skip a doctor's appointment because you were "busy." Put your God-date in your planner and treat it as a non-negotiable.
  • The Phone Fast: When you are on your date, your phone is the "other man." Put it in another room or on "Do Not Disturb." Don't let a notification steal your peace.
  • Prepare Your Space: Clear the clutter. A messy desk can lead to a messy mind. Grab your stationery accessories and create an environment that says, "Lord, You are welcome here."
  • Start with Repentance: If you’ve been distant, don't hide in shame. Run to Him. Say, "Lord, I’ve been busy, and I’m sorry. I’m here now." He is waiting with open arms.

The Anchor for Your Soul

Sister, you are a winner. You are a key part of the Plan. But you cannot fulfill your calling if you are disconnected from the Vine. Jesus said in John 15:5, "Apart from me you can do nothing." Not "some things," not "the hard things": nothing.

Intimacy is the fuel for your purpose. When you are filled with His love, you don't have to strive for the world’s approval. You already have the approval of the King.

So, which date are you going on first? Don't wait until Monday. Don't wait until you "feel" like it. Do it because your life depends on it. Because it does.
