The Summer of Yes: Saying Yes to God’s Call in This Season of Sun

Will it be easy to stay focused while the sun is shining and the beach is calling? No! But is it necessary? Absolutely.

Welcome to the season of sun, sweet sister. For many, summer is the ultimate "pause button." We put our goals on ice, our routines in storage, and our spiritual growth on the back burner while we chase the next sunset or backyard BBQ. But what if I told you that this summer isn't meant for spiritual slumber? What if this is the very season HE has appointed for your greatest "Yes"?

I’ve been there, falling into the trap of thinking that productivity and purpose are only for the crisp air of autumn or the fresh starts of January. I used to think the heat of summer was an excuse to let my mindset go soft. I was wrong. The Kingdom of God doesn’t have an "Out of Office" reply.

This is The Summer of Yes. A season of radical obedience, intentional rest, and fierce stewardship. Whether HE is calling you to a new ministry, a bold step of faith in your business, or simply to sit longer in HIS presence, the answer remains the same: Yes, Lord.

Truth vs. Lie

The Lie: Summer is a time to "switch off" from my calling so I can recharge.

The Truth: True rest is found in the calling, not away from it. While our pace may change, our posture of obedience never should. The enemy loves a vacuum, and when we vacate our spiritual posts, he is more than happy to fill that space with distraction and complacency.

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."
, Ecclesiastes 3:1

Spiritual Truth: Every season, including the one with the highest temperatures, is a divine appointment for growth.

Fact #1: God Does Not Take Vacations

We serve a God who neither slumbers nor sleeps. While we are busy planning itineraries, HE is busy orchestrating breakthroughs. The "Summer of Yes" begins when we realize that God’s invitation to co-create with HIM is still active in July.

When you open your faith journal in the early morning light, you aren't just checking a box; you are reporting for duty. You are saying, "Lord, I am here. What is the assignment for today?" Sometimes the assignment is to go play in the sprinkler with your kids, to steward their joy. Other times, it’s to finally write that business plan you’ve been fearing. Both require a "Yes."

Fact #2: Stewardship is a Year-Round Calling

If you want to grow and prosper, you have to understand that the seeds you plant in the heat are the ones that will provide a harvest in the harvest. You cannot expect a bumper crop in October if you refused to water the soil in July.

Using a faith based planner during the summer isn't about being rigid; it’s about being intentional. It’s about looking at your calendar and saying, "Father, how do we fit Your priorities into these long days?" It’s about protecting your time with HIM before the world tries to steal it.

Fact #3: Your "Yes" Is a Seed, Not a Destination

Many of us wait until we have the "whole picture" before we give God our "Yes." We want the full map, the GPS coordinates, and a five-star review of the destination. But that’s not how the Kingdom works.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for. Your "Yes" is the seed. You plant it in the soil of obedience, and you trust the Master Gardener to bring the growth. When you say "Yes" to that nudge to start a prayer journal practice, you aren't just writing words; you are anchoring your soul to the North Star of HIS Will.

How to Battle: Defeating Summer Distractions

The enemy wants you "checked out." He wants you so consumed by the "surface-level" fun of the season that you lose sight of your "deeply rooted" purpose. Here is how you battle for your focus:

  1. Anchor Your Mornings: Before the heat sets in and the demands of the day begin, get alone with the King. Use your prayer journal to document what HE is speaking. Write down the fears that are trying to block your "Yes."
  2. Schedule the Sacred: If it isn't on the calendar, it likely won't happen. Treat your Bible study or your one-on-one coaching session with the same respect you give a flight departure.
  3. Audit Your "Nos": Every time you say "No" to a distraction, you are making room for a "Yes" to God. Be ruthless with your time. Does this activity align with your calling? If not, let it go.
  4. Practice Presence: Summer offers a unique backdrop of beauty. Use it. Take your christian planner to the park. Listen for HIS "still small voice" in the rustle of the leaves.

The Wake-Up Call: My Summer of "Maybe"

A few years ago, I spent an entire summer in "Maybe." God was nudging me to expand Charlet’s Stationery, to reach more women, to be bolder in my faith. But I was comfortable. I wanted to stay in the "Spiritual Spa" of just existing without the "Spiritual Warfare" of growing.

I told HIM, "Maybe in September, Lord. Let me just enjoy the sun."

Do you know what happened? I ended that summer feeling more drained than if I had worked 80-hour weeks. Why? Because there is nothing more exhausting than resisting the Holy Spirit. When we sit in "Maybe," we are actually saying "No."

I had to repent. I had to realize that my "Yes" wasn't for HIM: HE doesn't need me to accomplish HIS goals. My "Yes" was for me. It was my key to the next level of intimacy and impact. Don't waste your summer in "Maybe."

You Are a Masterpiece in Progress

Sister, you are a key part of the plan. You are not a bystander in this season; you are a protagonist. God is looking for a heart that is fully HIS, even when the world is on holiday.

Will you be the woman who says "Yes" when it’s hot? Will you be the one who stays rooted when others are drifting?

Grab your faith journal, find a quiet corner of the porch, and have a "heart-to-heart" with your Creator. Ask HIM: "Lord, what is my Yes for today?"

And then: with all the passion and fire in your soul: go do it.

The sun is shining, the Grace is flowing, and your calling is calling.

Stay rooted, stay intentional, and let’s make this the most purposeful summer yet.

With love and fierce encouragement,

Charlet
