Have you ever felt like you were just an afterthought? Like the world has a ceiling for you that God never intended? Have you looked in the mirror and seen "less than" instead of "masterpiece"?
Will it be easy to unlearn those lies? No! But is it necessary? Absolutely.
Sister, the enemy wants nothing more than for you to believe that your voice is secondary and your value is conditional. He wants you to believe that your worth is tied to your productivity, your relationship status, or how well you fit into a societal mold. But I’m here today as your spiritual big sister to remind you that your value wasn't set by the world, it was set by the Creator of the Universe.
We are diving deep into The Divine Standard. This isn't just about feeling good; it’s about establishing a foundation of truth that will anchor you when the storms of insecurity hit. In our community at The Grace-Led Life, we believe that understanding your worth in Christ is the first step toward Becoming Her, the woman God envisioned before the foundations of the world.
Fact #1: You Are an Image-Bearer, Not an Afterthought
Let’s go back to the very beginning. Genesis 1:27 tells us:
"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
Spiritual Truth: Women are not a "Plan B." You were intentionally crafted to reflect a specific part of God’s character that the world cannot see without you.
When God created woman, He didn't use the dust of the ground like He did with Adam. He used a rib, part of a living being. There is a "deeply rooted" beauty in our design. We aren't just "helpers" in the sense of being assistants; the Hebrew word used is Ezer, a term often used to describe God Himself as our helper. It implies strength, protection, and essential support.
You are a key part of the plan! Without you, the image of God on earth is incomplete. When you walk into a room, you aren't just a person; you are a walking, breathing reflection of the Divine.
Truth vs. Lie: The World’s Scale vs. God’s Standard
The Lie: Your value is found in your external beauty, your domestic skills, or your silence.
The Truth: Your value is inherent, eternal, and was bought at the highest price imaginable.
The world tries to put us in a box. It tells us to be smaller, quieter, or "prettier" by its standards. But God looks at the heart. In the category of Grace-filled Lifestyle, we talk a lot about Proverbs 31. Many women find that chapter intimidating, but look closer! That woman is a business owner, a community leader, a provider, and a woman of deep character. Her "inner beauty", a gentle and quiet spirit, isn't about being a doormat; it’s about a soul that is anchored in God, unshaken by the chaos of the world.
Fact #2: Jesus Was the Ultimate Rule-Breaker for Women
If you ever doubt how much God values you, just look at Jesus. In a culture where women were often treated as property, where their testimony wasn't even legal in court, Jesus did the unthinkable: He empowered them.
The Samaritan Woman: The First Evangelist
Think about the woman at the well. She was an outcast among outcasts. She had a "reputation." And yet, Jesus went out of His way, literally traveling through Samaria when others avoided it, just to sit with her. He didn't just offer her a drink; He offered her Living Water. He revealed His identity as the Messiah to her before He told many of the religious leaders!
Mary Magdalene: The First Witness of the Resurrection
This is my favorite "hard truth" for anyone who thinks women should stay in the background. On the most important morning in human history, who did Jesus appear to first? It wasn't Peter. It wasn't John. It was Mary Magdalene. He entrusted the news of the Resurrection, the cornerstone of our entire faith, to a woman.
Spiritual Truth: Jesus didn't just love women; He respected their intellect, their spirits, and their leadership. He invited them into His inner circle, and He calls you into yours today. You can read more about these incredible women in the Bible to see how God used them to change history.
The Mirror of Love: What Your Relationships Should Look Like
This is where we get real. If God values you this much, how should the men in your life treat you?
The Bible is very clear that a husband’s love for his wife should mirror Christ’s love for the Church. That is a high, holy standard!
- Sacrificial Love: Christ gave His life for the Church. A partner who follows the Divine Standard will prioritize your growth, your safety, and your dreams over his own comfort.
- Respect and Honor: 1 Peter 3:7 tells husbands to treat their wives with respect as "heirs with you of the gracious gift of life." You aren't "below" him; you are a co-heir.
- Empowerment: A godly partner doesn't dim your light so he can shine brighter. He acts as the wind beneath your wings, encouraging you to step into your calling and vision.
If a relationship makes you feel small, insignificant, or unworthy, it is not reflecting the heart of Jesus. You are a daughter of the Most High King. Don't you ever settle for someone who treats you like a servant when God has called you a Queen.
How to Battle: Reclaiming Your Value
The enemy will try to steal your peace. He will try to make you forget who you are. So, how do we fight back? We move from inspiration to application. We have to steward our minds and our time.
1. Root Yourself in the Word.
You cannot fight a lie if you don't know the truth. Start a dedicated study on women of the Bible. Use a Bible highlighting guide to mark every time God speaks life into a woman.
2. Audit Your Circle.
Are the people around you reflecting the Divine Standard? Do they see you as God sees you? If not, it might be time to set some boundaries.
3. Track Your Growth.
Sometimes we feel stuck because we aren't looking at how far we've come. Use a tool like our 75-Day Holy Girl Tracker to stay disciplined in your prayer life and self-care. When you prioritize your relationship with God, your self-worth naturally begins to align with His.
Fact #3: Your Worth is the Anchor of Your Purpose
When you finally realize that you are loved, chosen, and valued, everything changes. You stop asking for permission to exist and start taking territory for the Kingdom!
Whether you are in a season of Purposeful Motherhood or you are looking to Grow and Prosper in your career, your identity as a valued daughter of God is your North Star. It guides every decision, every boundary, and every prayer.
Sister, you are not a mistake. Your sensitivity is a gift. Your strength is a weapon. Your voice is a melody that heaven loves to hear.
Don't let another day go by where you live beneath the Divine Standard. You were bought with a price. You are cherished beyond measure. You are a masterpiece in progress.
What to Do Today:
- Write down three lies you’ve believed about your worth.
- Find a scripture that counters each lie.
- Speak those truths out loud over yourself in the mirror. (Yes, out loud! The enemy needs to hear you claim your victory!)
