Let Them, Let Me, Let God: Releasing Control to Find Your Peace

Will it be easy? No!

Let’s be honest with each other right out of the gate, sister. How many times this week have your shoulders crept up toward your ears? How many times have you replayed a conversation, tried to engineer an outcome in your head, or stayed awake until 2:00 AM worrying about something completely outside of your jurisdiction?

We grip our lives like white-knuckled drivers navigating a treacherous mountain pass in a blizzard. We convince ourselves that if we just check one more box, manage one more person, or anticipate every possible disaster, we will finally be safe. But let’s call the enemy’s bluff right now: that exhaustion you are feeling isn’t discipline: it’s idolatry of control.

As daughters of the Most High, we were never called to sit on the throne of the universe. We were called to wear the crown of daughters and rest in the safety of our Father’s governance. Welcome to a deeper invitation under The Grace-Led Life umbrella, specifically crafted for our Becoming Her series. Today, we are exhaling. We are putting down the heavy bags. We are stepping into radical surrender through a three-part framework that will change your spiritual posture forever: Let Them, Let Me, Let God.

Truth #1: "LET THEM" : Releasing Others to God

Stop trying to be the Holy Spirit for everyone else in your contact list!

How much of your mental real estate is currently occupied by someone else's bad decisions, sluggish growth, or critical opinions? We pour our hearts out trying to fix, mold, and rescue people who haven’t even asked for our help. We mistake our anxiety for love and our manipulation for leadership.

The enemy whispers that if you stop managing everyone around you, everything will fall apart. But scripture tells a radically different story.

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." : Psalm 37:5

Spiritual Truth: Letting them be who they are: with all their flaws, poor choices, and messy timelines: is not a lack of love. It is the ultimate act of boundaries and spiritual stewardship. When you refuse to let go of other people's journeys, you are playing God in their lives and robbing them of the wilderness experiences He ordained for their pruning.

How to Battle:

  1. Name the person and the issue: Write down the name of the person you are trying to manage in your prayer journal.
  2. Open your hands physically: Drop your hands palms-up on your desk and say aloud, "Lord, I release [Name] back into Your capable hands. They are not my project; they are Your creation."
  3. Build godly fences: Stop stepping into fixing roles that belong solely to the Savior. Pray for them silently, love them fiercely, and let God do the heavy lifting.

Truth #2: "LET ME" : Giving Yourself Permission to Rest and Heal

Stop over-functioning and let yourself off the hook!

If "Let Them" is about releasing others, "Let Me" is about turning that compassionate gaze inward and breaking the cycle of perfectionism. So many Christian women operate under a crushing, silent condemnation: I should be doing more. I should have it all together by now. I’m failing as a mother, a wife, a professional, and a believer.

Sister, listen to me: You are a masterpiece in progress, not a finished statue. When you refuse to rest, you are declaring that God’s grace is insufficient without your frantic overtime.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." : Matthew 11:28–29

Spiritual Truth: Rest is not a reward for finishing your to-do list; it is a weapon of spiritual warfare against the spirit of hustle and self-reliance. When you rest, you declare that your worth is rooted in your identity as a daughter, not your output as a producer.

How to Battle:

  • Audit your schedule: Look at your weekly calendar through the lens of stewardship. Where are you over-committing out of people-pleasing?
  • Embrace holy boundaries: Protect your mornings and evenings. Use a faith-based planner to schedule unhurried time with your Creator rather than just cramming in more tasks.
  • Confess your weariness: Stop pretending you're invincible. God’s power is perfected in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Let yourself heal. Let yourself breathe.

Truth #3: "Let God" : The Ultimate Surrender of the Throne

Let God be God so you can just be His daughter.

This is where the rubber meets the road. "Let God" is the grand crescendo of surrender. It means releasing the timeline, the bank account, the relationship status, the ministry dream, and the unknown future directly into the hands of the One who holds the stars in their sockets.

We want guarantees. We want a 12-step PDF of how tomorrow is going to unfold. But God invites us into the sacred mystery of faith.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." : Proverbs 3:5–6

Spiritual Truth: Surrender is not passive resignation; it is active trust. It is stepping off the steering wheel and sliding into the passenger seat while the King of Kings navigates the hairpin turns of your destiny. His timing is never late; His protection is never absent; His love is never conditional.

How to Battle:

  • Write down your anchor verse: When the panic of the unknown rises up, anchor your soul to a specific promise from Scripture.
  • Keep a record of faithfulness: Look back at where God has brought you. How many red seas has He parted for you in seasons past? He is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

Your Soul-Care Sanctuary: Journal Prompts for Deep Release

Take a deep, cleansing breath. Grab your favorite faith journal or open up your prayer journal, light a candle, and let these intentional christian journal prompts guide your heart into total release:

  1. Section 1 (Let Them): Who are the people or outcomes I am currently trying to manipulate or control out of fear? What would it look like today to hand their spiritual growth and life choices completely over to God?
  2. Section 2 (Let Me): Where am I currently over-functioning and carrying burdens God never asked me to bear? What expectations of perfection do I need to crucify at the cross today?
  3. Section 3 (Let God): What specific area of my future or my current season am I terrified to surrender? Write a raw, unfiltered prayer giving God full permission to write His story, even if it looks different than mine.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come to You with open hands and weary souls. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have tried to play God: managing others, striving in our own strength, and clutching our plans so tightly our knuckles turned white. Today, we choose the posture of daughters.

We let them be who You created them to be, releasing our grip on their choices. We let me: releasing our perfectionism, our exhaustion, and our self-reliance into Your ocean of grace. And most of all, we let God. Take the steering wheel of our lives. Direct our steps, guard our hearts, and anchor our minds in Your unshakable peace.

In Jesus' matchless and holy name we pray,
Amen.

With all my love and fierce encouragement,
