Do you ever feel like you’re living a life that was written for someone else? Yes? Do you feel the weight of expectations pressing down on your shoulders, telling you to "just be grateful" for the gilded cage you’re in? I hear you! But let me ask you this: Are you ready to stop settling for "good enough" and start stepping into the "exceedingly abundantly" that God has promised you?
ABSOLUTELY.
Welcome back to "The Grace-Led Life." We are diving deep into the fourth installment of our Disney vs. The Bible series, and today, we are talking about influence. Specifically, we are looking at two women who lived worlds apart, one in a fictional palace in Agrabah, and one in the dusty hills of Shunem, who both reached a point where they said, "No more."
Princess Jasmine and the Shunammite woman were both women of high status. They had the wealth. They had the comfort. They had the "lifestyle" everyone else was dreaming of. But they both realized that a comfortable life is a wasted life if you aren’t using your influence to steward God’s Purpose.
Fact #1: Comfort is the Enemy of Calling
We’ve all seen the scene: Jasmine standing on her balcony, looking out at the horizon, feeling trapped. She’s a princess! She has everything! But she knows she isn't a prize to be won. She knows there is a world out there that needs her voice, and she refuses to stay silent in a palace that feels like a prison.
The enemy loves to keep us in "palaces" of comfort. He wants you to believe that because your bills are paid and your life looks "aesthetic" on the outside, you’ve reached the finish line. Lie! Comfort is often the very thing that keeps us from our Calling.
The Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:8-37) was described as a "great woman." She was wealthy and influential. But she didn't just sit in her greatness. She used her discernment to recognize the move of God. She saw the prophet Elisha passing by and didn't just give him a wave; she made him stay for a meal. Then, she went a step further. She told her husband, "Let’s build him a room."
She didn't settle for being a passive observer of God’s work. She became a steward of it.
"And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, that, when he cometh to us, he shall turn in thither." , 2 Kings 4:9-10
Spiritual Truth: Your influence isn't for your image; it's for His impact. When you stop settling for your own comfort, you create a space for the miraculous to dwell in your life.

Fact #2: Influence Requires Boldness, Not Permission
Jasmine didn't wait for the Sultan to change the law before she decided to take action. She snuck out. She spoke up. She challenged the status quo. She knew that her position gave her a platform, and she refused to let that platform go to waste.
Sister, you are a key part of the plan. You don't need the world's permission to be who God called you to be. You don't need a "yes" from people when you already have a "go" from the King of Kings.
The Shunammite woman was the same way. When her son, the very son God had promised her, suddenly died in her arms, she didn't collapse in a heap of "why me?" She didn't call the funeral home. She took that boy, laid him on the bed she had built for the prophet, and she ran to find the man of God.
When her husband asked where she was going, she uttered those famous, fierce words: "It is well."
She wasn't lying; she was prophesying! She refused to settle for a "dead" situation. She used her influence and her faith to demand a resurrection. She knew her God was bigger than the grave, and she wouldn't stop until she saw the promise restored.
Truth vs. Lie: The Battle for Your Mindset
In the "Spiritual Spa" of our walk with Christ, we have to clear out the toxic clutter of the enemy’s lies. If you’re going to walk in influence like Jasmine and the Shunammite woman, you have to know which voice you're listening to.
- Lie: "I’m just one person; my voice doesn't matter."
- Truth: You are a masterpiece created for good works, and your specific sphere of influence is a mission field only you can reach. (Ephesians 2:10)
- Lie: "If I speak up or aim higher, I’ll lose my peace."
- Truth: Real peace comes from obedience, not from staying small. God’s peace surpasses all understanding when we are in the center of His will.
- Lie: "It’s too late. The dream is dead."
- Truth: Our God is the God of the resurrection! If He promised it, He is faithful to complete it.
How to Battle: Practical Steps to Refuse the Status Quo
You can't just feel inspired; you have to be intentional. Transformation happens in the quiet moments of stewardship. If you want to cultivate a heart that refuses to settle, you need the right tools in your "spiritual war room."
- Audit Your "Upper Room": Are you making space for God to speak? Use a Bible study planner to track your time with Him. Don't just fit Him in; build the room.
- Declare the "It is Well": When things look falling apart, write down your declarations. Use a faith journal to list every "dead" thing in your life and then write the "Life" that God speaks over it.
- Plan for Purpose: Jasmine had a vision for Agrabah. What is your vision for your family, your business, your calling? Use a christian planner to map out your goals through the lens of Scripture. Don't just plan your day; plan your legacy.
- Engage in Spiritual Warfare: If you feel the enemy trying to silence you, like Jafar tried to silence Jasmine, get into your prayer journal. Write out the scriptures that remind you of your authority in Christ.

Fact #3: Your Persistence Changes the Atmosphere
The Shunammite woman didn't just ask for help; she refused to leave Elisha’s side. She said, "As the Lord liveth… I will not leave thee." Her persistence forced the hand of the prophet, which in turn brought the power of God into her home.
Jasmine’s persistence changed the laws of her land. Her refusal to be "speechless" opened the door for a new era of leadership.
Your "No" to the status quo is a "Yes" to God's Kingdom. When you refuse to settle for a mediocre prayer life, a lukewarm faith, or a small vision, you are actually clearing the way for the women coming after you. You are showing them that it is possible to be both soft and strong, both peaceful and persistent.
What to Do Right Now
I want you to take a deep breath. Feel the Marshmallow Cream and Petal Pink peace of the Holy Spirit washing over you. Now, I want you to be honest with yourself. Where have you been settling?
Is it in your marriage? In your career? In your walk with God?
It’s time to build the upper room. It’s time to speak up. It’s time to pick up your faith journal and start writing the new chapter God has for you. You were not made to stay in the palace; you were made to lead from it.

You are a winner. You are a key part of the plan. And "The Grace-Led Life" is here to walk right beside you as you claim every inch of the ground the enemy tried to steal.
Will it be easy? No! Will it be worth it? Every single second.
Stay rooted, stay visionary, and never, ever settle for anything less than God's best.
With love and fierce encouragement,
Charlet Billings
