Are you tired, Sis? I mean, truly soul-tired?
We are officially in the swing of the Easter season, and if you’re anything like me: juggling the demands of motherhood, building a business, and trying to keep your home from looking like a cyclone hit it: peace can feel like a luxury you just can’t afford. We tell ourselves that once the Easter baskets are filled, once the church potluck is over, or once that work project is submitted, then we will rest.
But will it be easy to find that rest? No!
The world isn't going to hand you stillness on a silver platter. In fact, the enemy would love nothing more than for you to spend this entire sacred season distracted, frantic, and disconnected from the Father. He knows that a woman who is still is a woman who can hear the Voice of God. And a woman who hears God is dangerous to the kingdom of darkness!
You are a Masterpiece, a daughter of the King, and you were never meant to run on empty. This Easter, I’m calling you to a higher standard of stewardship: not just over your time, but over your soul.
It’s time to reclaim your peace.
Truth vs. Lie: The "Busy" Deception
The Lie: "I am too busy to be still. My family and my job need me 24/7, and taking time for myself is selfish."
The Truth: Stillness is not a luxury; it is a spiritual necessity. Jesus Himself frequently withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16). If the Savior of the world needed to retreat to the Father to fulfill His calling, what makes us think we can do it all on our own strength?
When we refuse to be still, we are essentially saying, "God, I don’t trust You to handle my life while I rest." Ouch. That hits deep, doesn't it? But Sis, your peace is a weapon. When you are anchored in Him, you are a better mother, a more visionary leader, and a light to everyone around you.
1. The "First Fruits" of Your Morning
We talk a lot about "First Fruits" in a financial sense, but what about the first fruits of your day?
The enemy wants your first thoughts to be about your emails, the news, or that mounting laundry pile. I challenge you to create a "Sacred Silence" zone the moment you wake up. Before you touch your phone, before you check the notifications that want to steal your focus, give your first five minutes to Him.
What to Do:
- Keep your planner or a simple journal by your bed.
- Sit in the stillness. You don't even have to say anything. Just acknowledge His presence.
- Whisper a grounding prayer: "Lord, I surrender this day to You. Lead me into Your peace."
Spiritual Truth:
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" : Psalm 46:10
2. Deeply Rooted Scripture Meditation
During the Easter season, our hearts should be focused on the ultimate sacrifice and the glorious victory of the Resurrection. But how often do we actually sit with the Word? Not just read it: but sit with it.
Instead of rushing through a "one-year Bible plan" just to check a box, I want you to pick one passage from the Holy Week account: perhaps the garden of Gethsemane in Luke 22 or the crucifixion in John 19: and stay there for three days. Read it. Imagine the scents, the sounds, and the weight of the moment.
To help you navigate these deep waters, using tools like our Bible highlighting guide can help you visually organize your thoughts and see the themes of His love jumping off the page.
3. The Power of the "Breath Prayer"
Let’s get real: life as a working mom doesn't always allow for hour-long prayer retreats. Sometimes, the only "stillness" you get is the three minutes you’re hiding in the bathroom!
This is where the Breath Prayer becomes your best friend. It’s a way to stay present and anchored in the Holy Spirit while you’re folding socks or driving to a meeting. It keeps your "North Star" in sight when the waves of life start getting choppy.
How to Battle for Peace in the Moment:
- Inhale: "Jesus, Lamb of God…"
- Exhale: "…have mercy on me."
- Inhale: "Prince of Peace…"
- Exhale: "…quiet my soul."
This isn't just a breathing exercise; it’s a spiritual realignment. You are reminding your nervous system and your spirit that He is in control, not you.
4. A Digital Altar: The Fast That Sets You Free
Easter is the perfect time for a digital fast. Social media is the loudest "thief of peace" in our modern world. It breeds comparison, which is the enemy of gratitude.
If you want to experience the Art of Stillness, you have to turn down the volume of the world. Set intentional boundaries. Maybe you decide to go screen-free after 8:00 PM, or perhaps you delete the most distracting apps for the entirety of Holy Week.
Spiritual Truth:
You cannot hear the "still small voice" of God when you are constantly listening to the roar of the crowd. Put the phone down and pick up your faith-based stationery. Write down what God is saying to you, not what the influencers are saying to the masses. You are a winner when you choose presence over scrolling.
5. Stewardship of the Schedule
Sis, if it isn't on the calendar, it usually doesn't happen. We schedule our doctor appointments, our hair appointments, and our kids' soccer practices. Why don't we schedule our peace?
As a "spiritual big sister," let me give you some hard truth: If you are too busy for God, you are busier than He ever intended you to be.
Use your planner to mark out "Stillness Appointments." Block out 15 minutes in the middle of your workday. Treat it as the most important meeting of your week because it involves the CEO of the Universe.
What to Do:
- Audit your time: Look at your week through the lens of time-management. Where is your time leaking?
- Write it down: Literally write "STILLNESS" in your planner.
- Guard it: If someone asks for that time, tell them you have a prior commitment. You don't have to explain that the commitment is with your Creator.
The Vision: A Heart Prepared for the Resurrection
Why does this matter so much? Why am I being so firm with you about this?
Because Easter isn't just a holiday. It’s a reminder that we serve a God of life, renewal, and order. When we practice stillness, we are preparing the soil of our hearts for the seeds of the Resurrection to take root. We are clearing away the weeds of anxiety and the rocks of "busy-ness" so that when Easter Sunday morning comes, our joy isn't just a surface-level emotion: it’s a deeply rooted reality.
You are a key part of the plan, Sis. Your peace is a testimony to a world that is losing its mind. When people see you navigating the chaos of motherhood and work with a calm spirit, they will want to know the Source of your strength.
Stillness is where you find your "North Star." It’s where you remember who you are and Whose you are.
Your "Stillness" Action Plan
Don't just read this and move on to the next task. Take action!
- Pick one of the five tips above to implement today. Just one!
- Go to your stationery stash. Grab your favorite pen and a notebook from our shop.
- Write down one thing that is currently stealing your peace and physically "cross it out" as a symbol of surrendering it to Him.
You’ve got this. You are a woman of vision, a woman of purpose, and a woman who knows how to fight for her peace.
I am cheering you on, praying for you, and standing with you as we prepare our hearts for the most beautiful season of the year. Let’s stop "doing" for a second and just start "being" with the One who loves us most.
Stay visionary, stay inspired, and stay still.
